Gilles Peterson presents a weekly show based on his iconic Brownswood Basement.

This week Gilles is joined by Triforce for a live session, as well as British rapper, Ty, and singer Valerie Etienne.

Triforce

Made up of members Mansur Brown, Dominic Canning, Ricco Komolafe and Benjamin Appiah, Triforce is a jazz, hip-hop, funk, grime and Neo-Soul infused band from South London. Building on from the success of their debut EP, Triforce 5ive, they’ll be featuring on the upcoming Brownswood Recordings compilation, We Out Here.

Valerie Etienne

Valerie Etienne is a vocalist and singer song-writer with a career stretching back over 25 years. Currently on tour with Jamiroquai, who she’s worked with for 17 years, Valerie has worked with some of the biggest names in music such as Bryan Ferry, Lenny Kravitz, Omar, Leon Ware, Marlena Shaw, Bill Withers and Al Jarreau . She was an original member of the group Galliano on Gilles Peterson’s Talkin’ Loud label.

Ty

Ben Chijioke, better known as British rapper Ty, is best known for his lyrical frankness and honest portrayals of everyday life. He has four successful albums under his belt, as well as a Mercury Prize nomination.
