Emma Warren ‐ Worldwide FM

Emma Warren

Emma Warren has been documenting music culture for decades. She was a founding contributor to Jockey Slut then worked as Clubs Editor on cult magazine THE FACE. She compiled the ‘Steppers Delight’ dubstep albums for Soul Jazz; made BBC radio documentaries on classic clubs and hosted longform interviews (Brian Eno, Steve Reich, Björk) for Red Bull Music Academy.

At the same time, she worked as the lead editorial mentor at Brixton youth-run publication Live Magazine, and continues to run workshops around the country. More recently she ran Counterpoint at Tate Modern and booked a range of artists including Joe Armon-Jones, Kwake Bass, Steam Down and Shirley Tetteh for early DJ sets. Currently she has a monthly show on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. She DJs occasionally with Emma-Jean Thackeray as EmmaSquared.

‘Make Some Space: Tuning Into Total Refreshment Centre’ is Emma first book and was described by The Observer as ‘A cultural history-cum-manifesto…invigorating’. It’s published on her new imprint Sweet Machine (tagline 'put a little something in, get a little something out'). Sweet Machine will be publishing things you want to read on the internet, but don't, because you have too many tabs open.
