Debora is joined by Cem Kayiran and Batu Akyol.

For the first hour of the show, Debora invites Batu Akyol, documentary-maker and founder of London’s new festival Turquazz that aims to shine a light on Anatolian jazz and roots culture from Turkey and surrounding regions with bring concerts, DJ sets, film screenings, talks and more. Known for his documentary “Jazz in Turkey” Batu will share archival recordings, current favourites and inspirations.

For the second hour, music editor of İstanbul based culture & arts magazine Bant Mag and a member of psychedelic rock band Pitohui, Cem Kayıran jumps in. He compiled an hour-long mixtape with his selections from Turkey’s abstract, experimental and free music scene from 2010’s. The tunes you’ll hear in the mixtape vary from eerie and glitchy soundscapes to full throttle free improvs have been rearing up from the country through the last ten years.
