Haseeb Iqbal, poet, DJ and presenter of DIY podcast platform, Mare Street Records, brings you his monthly show on Worldwide FM. Combining conversation, with musical figureheads from various different scenes, alongside a deep-rooted exploration of the music that is precious to them, his two hour show of wholesome discussion and eclectic sounds is bound to take the listener on a compelling and rich cultural journey.

This month Haseeb is joined by Norwegian saxophonist, Bror Havnes, who makes up one seventh of Oslo-based, West African funk-influenced outfit, Flammer Dance Band. The pair discuss the riveting, up-and-coming live music scene in Oslo and the influences it incorporates, fusing breakdancing and graffiti culture alongside hip-hop, jazz, funk and more. They explore the current sounds emerging from the depths of Oslo, Bror’s personal discography and the worldwide influences that have filtered into his sound. Avidly collecting records from the age of just 12, Bror probes his thirst for music from all across the globe, speaking about a recent three-month solo pilgrimage of India in search for some of the richest South Asian sounds that exist, acquiring over 200 Indian and Pakistani records along the way.
