We are joined by Elliot Galvin, Danalogue (Soccer96/ The Comet is Coming) and Jack Stephenson-Oliver (Vels Trio), they play an exclusive synth session on their selected synth and Future BubblersLiam van Ryn selects his favourite synth tracks.

Elliot Galvin

Elliot Galvin is one of the rising stars of UK jazz. A superbly gifted composer and pianist, whose maverick imagination and magpie like ability to blend a disparate world of influences into his own unique musical vision has seen him compared to Django Bates although in truth he sounds like no one except himself.

Elliot is a prolific composer and has been comissioned by a number of Ensembles, Dance Companies, Theatre Groups and Festivals including the London Sinfonietta, Ligeti String Quartet, St. John Smith’s Square, The London Jazz festival, The RESOLUTION! Dance Festival at The Place and the Theatre Company Cut Tongues. He works regularly with multi-media and in 2014 put on a multi-media installation piece at the Turner Contemporary Gallery, which consisted of live performance, interactive sound sculptures and film.

He performs regularly as a soloist and is a key member of the Mercury nominated Band Dinosaur. He has recently began a duo project with the renowned saxophonist Binker Golding (one half of Binker and Moses), with whom he released the critically acclaimed album EX Nihilio on Byrd Out records in February 2019.

Danalogue

Danalogue is a synthesiser player, composer and record producer, based in London. Most known for being synth player and producer of Mercury Prize nominated The Comet is Coming and synth-drum duo Soccer96, Danalogue operates from legendary studio of the underground The Total Refreshment Centre.

His approach is based around a modern reinterpretation of older, analogue keyboards, using almost exclusively his trademark Roland Juno-60 and Roland SH-09, a love affair that began in his teenage years and has now been with him almost half his life. Producing with tape echoes, layers of saturation and drum machines, he seeks to create a sonic palette that leans towards the celestial and psychedelic, casting meditative, dreamlike vignettes that seamlessly flow between each other.

In recent years, when not on tour, he has produced records with Snapped Ankles, Alabaster Deplume, Vels Trio, Flamingods and Ibibio Soundmachine and also collaborated with artists such as Sarathy Korwar, Henry Wu, Scratcha DVA, and Leafcutter John.

Liam Van Ryn

Based in Hull, van Ryn makes richly textured and layered, cinematic music that is both experimental and (mostly) electronic. 2018 saw the release of his debut EP “Serendipity” and support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravenscroft and Nathan Fake.

In 2019, Liam will be one of the PRS Biennial Artists, performing as “Numb Mob” alongside previous collaborator Joseph Bird. Their audio-visual piece “Where To Build In Stone” will be performed in Hull (location TBC) and London (Southbank Centre) as part of the July festival. This year will also see new music released from both projects via the Foreign Entertainment imprint.

Jack Stephenson-Oliver

Jack Stephenson-Oliver is the founder of rising stars Vels Trio and keyboard player for artists such as Poppy Ajudha and Charlotte dos Santos. He is currently working on a new album with Vels trio and a synth soaked solo project which he is planning to have finished by the end of the year.
