12-1PM PST // LIVE: FABIANO DO NASCIMENTO w/ RICARDO ’TIKI’ PASILLAS percussion
+ in conversation with JEREMY SOLE
We’re very lucky to have a live session with one of our favourite guitarists in the game – Brazilian jazz guitarist, Fabiano do Nascimento has been infatuated with music since he was a small child. Combining classical training with a true passion and spirit for jazz music, he has become successful as a studio musician on prestigious recording projects, and an enchanting performer in his own right. Fabiano will be joined by Ricardo ‘Tiki’ Pasillas who will be laying down the percussion for the session.
Feb. 21st new album ‘Tempo dos Mestres’ (Now Again Records) – release show at The Blue Whale in DTLA.
You can follow Fabiano on Soundcloud
1-2PM PST // JEREMY SOLE
Jeremy Sole continues the day with his signature California style and many suprises.
2-3PM PST // introducing our new FAMILY VALUES inspiration series kicking off with the mighty BRUNER dynasty of RONALD BRUNER SR (Strange Jazz Universe), RONALD BRUNER JR (new release TRIUMPH out March 3rd), THUNDERCAT (new release DRUNK out on Brainfeeder Feb 24), JAMEEL ‘KINTARO’ BRUNER moderated by Ms JIMETTA ROSE
“When they were infants they all had a propensity for music,” he said. “My wife [a flautist] said that when she was carrying Ronald Jr., he would pound to the beat in her stomach whenever music came on. I have a picture of him in Pampers — he has my sticks and we’re playing air-drums together. In another picture he’s sitting on a little box and has a tom-tom in front of him and a little cymbal. And Stephen, who is 2 years younger, is sitting at a little toy piano in his Pampers.” Billboard
(early Bruner fam pic of Jameel, lil Stephen (Thundercat), Ronald Jr. and Ronald Sr. )
Our next FAMILY VALUES edition airs February 15th with NIA ANDREWS and REGGIE ANDREWS in conversation with BARBARA SEALY.
3-4PM PST //JIMETTA ROSE ‘GARDEN OF SOUND
Jimetta Rose, super energized by her Worldwide Awards performance and hanging with the Worldwide fam recently in London presents her weekly installment of Garden of Sound – a sonic exploration of the vibrations of LA and beyond.
4-5PM PST // live: FEMI KOLEOSO of EZRA COLLECTIVE
One of the pioneers of the South London jazz revival which has exploded across the city and beyond in recent years, Femi Koleoso is one of the founding members of Worldwide family Ezra Collective and one of our favourite drummers from London-based collective Drummers Inc. We can’t wait to combine London’s finest in young jazz with the settings of LA.
5-6PM PST // ANDREW JERVIS ‘BANDCAMP MONTHLY’
Having spent most of his life around records Andrew Jervis has become an almost bottomless source of knowledge about music across the spectrum. Having worked at Ubiquity Records, as an editor for On the One Magazine and radio host on KUSF, he can now be found as the Chief Curator at Bandcamp which promotes so much of the music we all play at WWFM and we’re very happy to welcome his BANDCAMP ‘MONTHLY’ roundup to WW LA.
