Co-founder of Twisted Nerve Records and Finders Keepers Records Andy Votel has had a long and notable career, as a DJ, musician and record producer. His Niche Market Worldwide FM show, arguably one of the most eclectic on the airwaves, celebrates jazz micro-genres, tenuous-links, unknown pleasures and musical strains that have yet to be categorised.

His three-instalment series focussed on the themes of Breton Jazz, Typewriter Jazz and finally (in a nod to its October 31st broadcast date) Paranormal Jazz. In this Christmas-day broadcast you will be able to listen to some of Andy’s highlights from Niche Market, produced together with some of his favourite tracks of 2017.

This Christmas Day, we will broadcast the newest addition to the Niche Market Series. Tune-in to Andy Votel’s TWELVE BAR BOOZE festive special on Worldwide radio this Christmas Day, putting the merriment in the sediment, as we hear The Yeast Unleash The Beasts!

As we slowly approach the end of the year and the festive season falls upon us Andy Votel emerges from behind his make-shift shop counter, rag in hand, to unveil another specialised singular episode of his niche feature for Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide wonderland. In an instalment where Niche Market meets Christmas Market, Andy aint no scrooge when it come to dishing out the musical Mulled Wine and Egg Nog, declaring open season on the cocktail cabinet in a special end-of-year party that explores obscure Jazz music and it’s relationship with the grape and grain. That’s right, an intoxicated selection box that works it’s way through the mini-bar bringing 12 bottles of beer (including wine, whiskey and wallbangers) for each day of the traditional advent calendar. Whether you’re a heavy chugger, a drinking-game olympian, a bottle-spinner or simply refrain from the grain altogether Votel has an equivalent musical tipple for all, coming from well-matured vinyl-vats, with 100 percent proof potency these cosmic cocktail are safe to conceal behind the wheel… but can’t guarantee a headache free after-burn.
