Global Roots: Thris Tian with rRoxymore and Puma Blue
05.10.18Weekly show with Thris Tian presenting the best underground and global selections.
For this week’s show, Thris is joined by DJ and producer rRoxymore with her dancefloor-readyv futurist techno tunes and the singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Puma Blue with his dubby textures, downtown-jazz sax lines and gritty lo-fi sound.
rRoxymore
rRoxymore’s music is an intriguing, one-off blend of contrasting textures – organic and synthetic, icy and warm – a fresh step in dance music. The French musician and producer has a long history making music in various ways, with various people, before settling in Berlin and concentrating on the solo project that refines it all.
With her reputation now intact, rRoxymore quickly found new friends and allies in the vast musical landscape of Berlin. Regular sets (both live and DJ) at local favorites like About Blank and Panorama Bar accompanied gigs all over Europe and jaunts to further reaches. Recognized as an artist with future-oriented ideas in a musical capital, she has been presented abroad as part of the Berlin Current initiative – presented by CTM Festival, Berghain, Boiler Room Berlin, The Quietus and others.
Puma Blue
Emerging from the south London underground scene, Puma Blue has developed a cult following and critical acclaim. Three tracks from his debut EP ‘Swum Baby’ have already exceeded a million streams each at Spotify, while radio support has come from a who’s who of new music champions: Phil Taggart, Huw Stephens and Mura Masa at Radio 1; Giles Peterson at 6 Music; Julie Adenuga at Beats 1; and Jamz Supernova at 1Xtra.
Now Puma Blue is set to be propelled to another level this autumn with a triple-threat of activity. He’s going to be joining Thris Tian to discuss his second EP ‘Blood Loss’ on the 2nd of November.
