Kayla is joined by a special guest, composer, producer and visual artist, This Ship Argo, the moniker of Aileen McKenna. Aileen is a Belfast based solo musician who creates downtempo electronic music. She will join Kayla to choose some of her favourite tracks and to premier a brand new upcoming release.

Drawing on personal experiences involving the different stages of his mixtape, ranging from a saxophone solo, to warm rhythms like samba and the romantic movement of a danzón, to intrepid high tempered sounds.

  • 26.04.21 Picó: Edna Martinez with Yoko Polo (El Huracan turbo laser)

    Tune in for a two hour show from Colombian Caribbean artist and DJ Edna Martinez. Picó with Edna Martinez attempts to be an insight into picó culture by showcasing traditional music played and promoted through the picós, having local DJ/selectors as guests, and presenting interviews with urban legends and more. Once a month we will be able to witness the sonic and rhythmic diversity of the picós in their daily life at the Caribbean. On the 6th episode of Picó, Edna is joined by Yoko Polo from El Huracan Turbo Laser (Barranquilla) A sound system in honour of the disappeared Gran Huracán from Cartagena and is well known because of its sound quality. Yoko Polo has joined different sound systems however he considers El Huracan Turbo Laser as his home, he will talk about his experiences and will deliver a 1.5 hour exclusive vinyl mixtape with great sound and lovely selection representing this awesome sound machine.

Mari* is joined by Hoshina Anniversary and DJ Scotch Egg. Hoshina Anniversary is a Japanese DJ/producer who’s been putting out his music from Aliens James, ESP Institute, Young Trip, and Osàre! Editions as well as making music with a different moniker Shifting Gears. His new album “Jomon” is about to be released and on this show, he presents a mixtape with 100% of his original music. DJ Scotch Egg is a Berlin based producer who is one half of WaqWaq Kingdom with Kiki Hitomi as is known for producing gabba music and beyond. He is releasing a new album “Tewari” in May from Hakuna Kulala which is a sub-label of Nyege Nyege Tapes. Mari* also chats with DJ Scotch Egg about his new project Scotch Rolex and his new album.
