We are launching a brand new rotation of shows broadcasting every week from Melbourne and Brisbane. Continuing our Worldwide FM mission to connect the dots with expertly curated underground radio around the globe, the shows will be hosted by DJ JNETT, Sampology, Allysha Joy, Alex Intas, Prequel and Ennio Styles and will offer a weekly snapshot of a truly energising Australian scene that is undeniably becoming a force on the international stage.

WW Melbourne and WW Brisbane will broadcast every Tuesday at 11am BST / 8pm AEST, and to give an insight into our rotation of presenters, we’ve asked each one to pick an inspiring selection from their record boxes.

    DJ JNETT
Hugh Masekela – Mama (Teymori Edit)

Melbourne-based producer Amin Payne has adopted his Teymori alias to explore a distinctive take on house music. The six track debut EP features a host of Melbourne’s finest musicians including Blasko (Billy Davis), Silentjay (Hiatus Kaiyote/Sampa The Great) & Horatio Luna (30/70) to name a few. Limited edition pressing of 400 copies with full colour cover and labels.
Amin is a regular and vital contributor to the bubbling Melbourne Music scene!!

    Alex Intas
Vulture Street Tape Gang – Cunny

This album is ridiculously brilliant and deserves more shine in my humble opinion. Do I describe it as an ‘oddball neo-soul beat tape?’ Vulture Street Tape Gang are a three piece split between Brisbane and Melbourne defined by a completely improvised live show which has left me dumbfounded countless times. Lead vocalist Laneous AKA “Australia’s answer to D’Angelo” is a truly masterful songwriter. The album is full of themes of love, sex, heartbreak and self-deprecation executed with hilarious wit and soulfully seductive melodies. I could’ve chosen any track really so why not go with “Cunny” featuring rapper Cazeaux O.S.L.O, a kooky, catchy ditty about cunnilingus. Tip top!

    Sampology
    GODTET – Enumerating

Residing in Sydney, Godtet aka Godriguez is a guitarist, beatmaker and producer. I was first introduced to his music via Sampa The Great’s 2015 release ‘The Great Mixtape’ which he produced entirely, flipping jazz and soul samples into crisp and snapping instrumentals, beautifully bizarre at times in the best possible way.
His Godtet moniker expanded his sampling production to fleshed out recordings with live ensemble via a self titled 2017 album for La Sape records.

In 2018 he presented a mid-week residency in Sydney bringing in a number of musicians. To me this looked like a way to develop sketches for his next release and to bring together local players and creatives around Sydney.
Having listened to a sneaky advance of ‘Godtet II’ album due for release in July it’s clear he’s evolved the project even further with some truly beautiful instrumental songs. Keep a look out for that release, there may even be some sneaky unreleased tracks from it included in my last couple of WWFM shows…

    Prequel
    Tiana Khasi – Meghalaya

Tiana has an incredible voice and her debut EP “Meghalaya” is expertly produced by Brisbane’s own Sampology (who I consider to be the most underrated producer in Australia). Her raw, reflective and patient lyrics and delivery are masterfully executed and her sense of space on each track on the project (respectively) shows a maturity and complex understanding of timing, rhythm and a sensible attitude to less is more. With such a strong first foot forward I eagerly await her next project.

    Ennio Styles
    Emma Volard Max

Melbourne soulstress Emma Volard shows what happens when young musicians grow surrounded by the sounds of Hiatus Kaiyote, 30/70 and Kaiit. Her latest single ‘Max’, like its equally great predecessor ‘Arachne’, is jazzy headnod soul with Emma’s crystal clear voice leading us along a path filled with interesting twists. The track is produced by Jake Amy and the band includes musicians who have performed on my previous Worldwide FM shows with Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange and Teymori.

    Allysha Joy
    Tiana Khasi – Good Things

One of the realest! Brisbane based artist Tiana Khasi released her debut LP ‘Meghalaya’ earlier this year on Soul Has No Tempo. The record is named after one of Tiana’s many homes, a region in North East India, known for its dense tropical forests. It feels like the record aptly portrays this meeting point of city and nature ~ combining lush dreamy textures with minimal RnB and lyrical truth. I love the entire album but the last track, ‘Good Things’ messed me up. Tears. Beautifully produced by Sampology.
