Tru Thoughts 20th Anniversary
10.10.19Founded in Brighton in 1999 by Robert Luis and soon after joined by Paul Jonas, Tru Thoughts has established an international reputation for releasing a wide variety of high quality music. Tune in as we celebrate Tru Thoughts Records’ 20th Birthday on Worldwide FM.
On this celebratory show, Robert Luis showcases an eclectic mix of the label’s roster ahead of the Tru Thoughts 20th Birthday party at Patterns, Brighton on 2nd November. With a background spanning a wide range of music from beats, jazz, jungle and more, Robert is the co-owner and A&R for the imprint.
Joining him are DJ, drum & bass producer and head-honcho of W10 Records Danny Wheeler aka WheelUP and Canadian producer, singer and songwriter Rhi (AKA Rhiannon Bouvier) whose minimal, ethereal electronic soundscapes range in style from bass music to hip hop and lo-fi. Also in the studio are Godfather of British hip-hop and rap, Rodney P, who has inspired a generation of hip-hop and grime MCs while also collaborating with the likes of Bjork, Skinnyman, Omar and MJ Cole. Tel Aviv’s top jazz and funk trumpeter Sefi Zisling completes the lineup ahead of the release of his sophomore album, ‘Expanse’ in November 2019.
