Felix Buxton is a composer, music producer and a member of Grammy and Brit Award winning dance act Basement Jaxx.

Felix celebrates International Peace Day with guests including actress Juliet Rylance, Peace Builder Dr Scilla Elworthy and a live phone-in from Ahmad Fawzi, former Communication Adviser and Chief Spokesperson for the High Commissioner for Refugees.

International Peace Day is assigned by the UN to be the 21st of September.

Scilla Elworthy Ph D. 
Three times nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her work with the Oxford Research Group which she founded in 1982 to develop effective dialogue between nuclear weapons policy-makers worldwide and their critics. She founded Peace Direct in 2002 to fund, promote and learn from local peace-builders in conflict areas. Awarded the Niwano Peace Prize in 2003, and was adviser to Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Sir Richard Branson in setting up ‘The Elders’. Latest book: The Business Plan for Peace: Building a World Without War, and her TED talk on nonviolence has been viewed by over 1,400,000 people.

Ahmad Fawzi
Media and communication expert, who, until 
recently, served as Communication Adviser and Chief Spokesperson for the High Commissioner for Refugees. In 2015-2016, he was Director of the United Nations Information Service in Geneva, with overall responsibility for the Geneva headquarters’ press and media, as well as extensive public information programmes.

He served as chief of the Department of Public Information’s News and Media Division at Headquarters in New York, managing the UN’s global multilingual daily news and media products from 2003-2010, including photo, radio, print, television, social media and websites.

He has held senior positions in the United Nations and global media outlets around the world. For over 25 years he has managed crisis communications and served as the interface between the UN and the global media in conflict areas and during highly charged political negotiations. His work involved communicating the broad range of UN activities to the global media from UN Headquarters in New York and Geneva, as well as in countries in and emerging from conflict, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Timor Leste.

Ahmad Fawzi has worked for three UN Secretaries-General: Boutros Boutros-GhaliKofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon, and served chief as spokesperson and communication advisor for leading peace negotiators including Kofi Annan, Jan Eliasson, Lakhdar BrahimiIan Martinand Sergio Vieira de Mello.

Ahmad Fawzi joined the UN after a career in broadcast journalism. Working for Reuters Television, he covered the Middle East and Eastern Europe, and was based in London, Cairo, Prague and New York. Earlier in his career he worked as Chef de Cabinet for Egypt’s First Lady Jehan El-Sadat.

Juliet Rylance
Peace One Day ambassador, she has been following and supporting Peace One Day since the beginning. She has performed as an actor all over the world and one of her most recent roles, which has been extremely successful, was the acclaimed T.V show McMafia. Juliet will be raising awareness and engaging people for Peace One Day as well as producing content in the future to inspire and empower people.
