This New-Year’s Day Special is the recording from the Another Sunday Afternoon at Dingwalls event which took place on the 3rd of December, marking the 30 year anniversary of this Camden jazz institution. Joining regular hosts Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge are Vel’s Trio and Bob Jones.

“Talkin Loud and Saying Something” or just “Dingwalls” as it was more commonly known was the session that shaped a generation; in sound, style and attitude and its influence spread far and wide. It was the counterpoint to the rave generation’s acid revolution, taking that same spirit and optimism and applying it to a very different type of music. This event has once again reached out and tapped into all that was special and every year it becomes more and more legendary.
For this session on the third of December, Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge invited Vel’s Trio for a live session and Dr Bob Jones, who celebrated the 50th anniversary of his DJ career.
