Kitch: a Fictional Biography of a Calypso Icon, Anthony Joseph’s partly-imagined biography of Lord Kitchener could hardly be more timely, as the 70th anniversary of the Empire Windrush arriving at Tilbury Docks has revitalised the British public’s appreciation and consideration of a seismic migrational legacy. Anthony joined Paul Bradshaw on his latest Straight No Chaser show to discuss and read from his latest work: http://wrldwd.fm/snc6

Born in Trinidad, before breaking through in 1950s Britain, Kitch and his music are emblematic of the hopes, plights and transcendary talents of his generation, and Joseph’s book skilfully and imaginatively weaves between his well-known musical exploits and lesser-known private and personal life.

Joseph is touring the book around UK cities with significant Caribbean populations – Nottingham, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol and London.
