Church Of Sound
Church of Sound is a monthly DIY gig held in St James the Great, Lower Clapton Road. The shared fantasy of a Hackney organist and a Parisian crate digger, each show features a central speaker tower, a ring of musicians exploring new territory and a surrounding audience sharing in one-off happenings. CoS’ monthly show with WWFM is a reflection of the musical confluences that dictate their programming. Whilst locality is frequently at the core of the show, with much of the selected music and performance having deep links with Hackney and the surrounding area, free-flowing journeys are still permitted: jazz, funk, post-punk, ambient, gospel & more are woven in abstract tapestry.
