Kassin – Relax [Luaka Bop, 2018]

This week on Morning Mari* our album of the week is Relax by the legendary Brazilian musician and producer Kassin. One of the most important figures in Brazilian music, Kassin is an integral producer for other people with hundreds of producer credits to his name but with his own productions where he feels most at home. Relax was released on 11th May via Luaka Bop.

Over the course of his career, Kassin has produced roughly 100 records for singers like Marisa Monte and Bebel Gilberto, has recorded with Sean O’Hagan and made a full album based on Nintendo GameBoy sounds. He has played bass for Caetano Veloso’s live shows and conceptualized the Imperial Orchestra band. Kassin is part of the Worldwide family, he hosts WW Rio alongside Joao and was co-producer of Gilles Peterson’s Brazilian Project Brazil Bam Bam Bam.
